ABOUT US
Karaga District was established in August, 2004 by Legislative Instrument (L. I) 1787 of 2004. It was curved from the then Gusheigu-Karaga District and subsequently inaugurated in the same year with Karaga as its District capital.
The District is located in the north-eastern part of the Northern region and covers a land mass of approximately 3,119.3 km sq. The District shares boundaries with five districts in the Northern and North-East Regions, West and East mamprusi to the north, Savelugu and Nanton to the West and Gusheigu to the south and East . Karaga the District Capital is 24km from Gushiegu and 94km from Tamale. The district is made up of 189 communities with 5 area councils namely, pishigu, Bagli-Zandua, Kuduli, Sakulo/Nambregu and Karaga being the capital.
